The profit will come from creating a book that people recommend to those they know, and one that people can empathize or relate to. Some of the keys to creating a great memoir are: be as accurate as you can be, write it all out, and give both sides of the coin.
You can lose credibility with your readers if your analogies to real life events do not sync up. You can benefit from doing your very best to remember specific details relative to the time period you are writing about. If you are struggling to come up with a reference point, then you ought to do a little bit of research to make sure you mesh with actual history.
The next key to a successful memoir is to simply write the whole story as you remember it. The last point is to have a story that balances the good things that have happened in your life against the bad things.
