Trouble Cranking Out Blog Posts? 5 Ideas To Get You Started

Posted by Jim Swanson on July 28, 2010

As an attorney advertising your services, a legal blog needs to be one of the strategies you take advantage of. Writing a blog can be time consuming and at times frustrating. It is difficult to think of new post ideas all the time. Here are 5 suggestions to jump start your creative juices.

1. Design a Helpful List – Your readers will love a good list. Think of 5 or 10 things you could list about your area of expertise. Some helpful hints, explanations, etc. Lists are short, concise, and to the point. People on the web love a good list.

2. Tell Your Readers About Good Links – It isn’t always that easy to find great links and resources on the web. Your readers will appreciate you telling them about links and resources you find interesting and helpful.

3. Write About A Story – There is nothing quite as interesting as a great story. Writing about an experience you had with a client or a personal life experience is great fodder for a blog post. It gives your blog an original voice and shows your human side.

4. Share Your Legal Knowledge – People have questions they want answers to. You obviously want to be cautious not to give legal advice, but sharing your knowledge and expertise can be a great way to establish yourself as a thought leader in your niche area of the law.

5. Stay Current With Fellow Legal Bloggers – Take the time to subscribe and read the posts of fellow bloggers. They will provide insights and ideas you can piggy back off of for your own legal blog posts.

If you take the time to consistently write good legal blog posts, you will see a big gain in your lawyer marketing efforts. A blog will help you get found by search engines, establish your credibility in your niche area of the law, and provide a valuable resource to potential clients looking for examples of your expertise.
