Choosing a theme for school yearbook is one of the first tasks on a long list of “To Do’s” for a yearbook staff. Everyone has an idea and everyone wants a different theme. This is a time when it is essential for the yearbook staff to work as a team and pick the best theme possible for their school. When it comes to Italian restaurants, New York City has some pretty amazing ones. Of course, it does not compete with the great cities of Italy, but it just may be the next best place. Regardless of the type of pasta you are looking for, there is somewhere to get it in New York.
At the moment, the following restaurants serve up my favorite bowls of ravioli, tagliatelle, gnocchi, fussilli and others.
I will start off with one of my overall favorite restaurants, Convivio. This place is just awesome. Chef Michael White pulls out all the stops with this pasta, serving up amazing dishes like maccheroni a la carbonara, which might be the best version of the dish I’ve ever tried.
Another must try place when visiting New York City is the legendary Il Mulino. This place is too good. You will leave so full you will not want to eat for days. One piece of advice: do not fill up on the breadsticks.
No list of pasta places in New York City would be complete without mentioning a restaurant in Little Italy. If I’m looking for a great place to catch up with friends, we go to La Mela on Mulberry Street. Any place in Little Italy will get the trick done.
Located in the East Village, Barbone might be favorite place to go to on this list. It is a quiet, unassuming restaurant with fresh pastas made daily. The owner, Alberto, is a great guy and if you are visiting New York and want great food at an affordable price, this is a great spot.
Finally, a Scott Conant restaurant should be named. While the Meatpacking District lacks in great restaurants, Scarpetta is worth visiting. The spaghetti is the star of the show, served al dente to perfection.

In this case, the number is quite small, meaning that the site has a good ranking. This is the opposite of what you might expect, but the larger the number, the worse the ranking. In reality, to find good joint ventures, you want a ranking of 300,000 or less.
This number that we have is great information, but we need more, so I’ll click on the number, which takes us to the Alexa web site. Now we can see more information about the site, including its traffic rank, keywords and more. What we’re looking for are indicators that would make this site a good joint venture partner. Another thing to look at are the backlinks, which shows you which sites link to this one. Occasionally, some of these backlinks could translate into joint venture partners.
Moving around the Alexa site will give you even more information. A good thing to check would be the Search Analytics tab. This gives you High Impact Search Queries and you will see more information about what is popular on the web site. This is important because when you write your introductory JV letter, you will have some idea of what to say.
The last thing is to make sure you have all the contact info for this site for writing your queries later. When saving this information, I recommend using one of two methods. The first is if you have Acrobat installed on your computer. Use the Print to PDF file option and save all these pages as PDF’s in a folder. The second option is to use an image capturing program such as SnagIt, to capture the information, so you can refer to it at a later date. This is all information you’ll need for your joint ventures. The initial samurai swords were presets to Queen Himeko from 240 AD. About forty years past this they were also imported.
Around the sixth century, Japanese sword makers developed ways to harden the steel making the swords stronger. The blades of the samurai swords became curved around the 18th century. One of the reasons for the change in the swords was the shift from ground combat to fighting on horseback.
The samurai warriors came about in 1184-1333. The ruler Minamoto no Yorimoto encouraged sword makers and artists to gather and try different styles. The early swords that they made were wider and more primitive than what we think of modern samurai swords. They began making improvements in their quality and functionality. They had many battles with Mongolia which tested the strength and durability of the swords. Many of the points of the swords broke during battle which showed them that they needed to improve their strength.
Starting in 1334, wars raged for over sixty years between the splintered Northern and Southern courts of Emperor Godaiko and Emperor Komyo. It was during this era that ground warfare (versus fighting on horseback) came back into fashion and a demand for longer swords began. Called odachi, these blades were typically wielded with two hands and the direct forefather to the katana.
The wars between the two empires died down and there was a period of peach called Senkogu. Which means the time the country was at war. The longer blade tachi got shortened down to make ground fighting easier.
It was during the second part of this era that swords were shortened even further for ground fighting and the modern katana was brought into widespread use. Carried with the cutting edge facing upwards to allow the sword to be drawn in one motion, the katana was thereby differentiated from the tachi that hung with the edge facing downwards.
