Writing a book is a life-defining experience for a writer. It can be very difficult when the author realizes that their book has not defined anyone else’s life. Play up your contacts, you affiliation with local schools or business or sports teams. Make people proud that you came from their area. Keep in mind that people know your parents or remember you from high school. They want to see what you have done with your life.
Do not be afraid to put up fliers and do television spots. Network as much as you can, cash in favors, and do not burn any bridges. You will need as much help as you can get in moving your publicity up to the next level.

There are many book titles that you see on the shelves of bookstores and in libraries. They may have some of the best information, or tell the best stories that have ever been written. However, if the author was not marketed by a well known publisher or did not have the tools and ideas to show that book promotion and publicity market your book.
Hopefully, you chose a topic that has mass appeal. If you did, then there are numerous methods to employ to get you the exposure you need to start selling books. You will need to use the same creativity that was used in composing your book, to market it and to get publicity, so people can find it. Your most effective method will be to do some guerrilla marketing and take it to the streets, yourself. This may sound a little scary, but if done correctly, you will be amazed at the results.
Listen to the radio in your local market. You will likely find at least one station that has some talk show host that discusses similar topics as what you have written about. In every case, these hosts are always interested in having entertaining guests on their shows. It helps them develop a larger audience and you will get some good exposure. They are easy to contact and if you are local and have a good story to tell, they will love having you on their program.

Another service is SEND ARTICLES.COM. Their sales page is too brief. They cost too much at one article per month/$30. And they only send to 100 directories. Remember your link building campaign needs more than one kind of backlink and an article directory is only one type.
1 WAY LINKS is another network of blogs with about 1500 blogs in the network. They started out strong and I was initially pleased with their results but the quality of the sites was not maintained, too many of them turned into link-farm type sites, thus rendering their links as ineffective. This was disappointing because it was easy to use and only cost $47/month. They had a good support forum too. I am not recommending it now though.
Nonetheless, I have learned that it will be a lot less expensive and much more effective if you apply your own leverage and your own techniques to article marketing and submission. If you connect with networks that already exist and already are waiting for your articles it will cost a lot less than many of these other services mentioned. What works best in my opinion is to use either MY ARTICLE NETWORK ($47/month) if you are just starting a site, or UNIQUE ARTICLE WIZARD ($67/month) for solid power and reliability. Write your own articles or get some written where they have writers who specialize in preparing original content articles in UAW format. Use your time, money and talent wisely. It is best to create your own system. Mine is working well.
