Freelance Writing: Work From Home And Be Your Own Boss
Posted by Angela Booth on July 18, 2010
Freelance writing can be your ticket to making money on your own terms. Set your own hours and your own wages and get away from the stress of the 9-to-5 work life. In this article you’ll find some ideas to help you get started.
I’ve been writing as a freelance writer for over 30 years. Once you get into the swing of it, and have a stable of clients, you can make more income than you could make working for someone else. Many of my clients have been with me for years, because once they find a good writer, they are very loyal.
Possibly the easiest way to get started is to write for an online article bank. Write a short article about something that interests you and submit it to the bank of your choice, along with a bio box that tells the world about your writing skills and interests. When the article gets used on a website, people will learn what you have to offer and hire you to write their content. Some article banks will also pay you a small amount whenever your article is used.
Don’t know what to write about? Don’t worry. Most article banks have a list of topics to get your creative juices flowing. Write about what you know and you can establish yourself as an expert in a subject and people who need articles about that subject will pay you a lot of money.
Another fun way to get started as a freelancer is to start a blog. Again, you can write about whatever you like. Most people think about blogs as mere online diaries; however you can also earn money from blogs, especially by promoting other people’s products. A single blog post is only about 200 words (less than half a page) so you can make a lot of money by creating many blogs on many different subjects.
Once you have your own blogs established, you will easily be able to convince companies to let you create blogs for them on a variety of subjects.
By writing articles and blogs to start, you can quickly and easily build up a portfolio of your published work. You can show your portfolio to companies, whether online or in your own city and state, and offer to create similar work for them. This will save the company’s time and resources and improve their bottom line. For that reason, they will be willing to pay you well for your contribution.
If you’ve dreamed of being your own boss, freelance writing is the way to go. Escape the rat race, be your own boss, and start writing today.
