For a long time we have used the video store as one of our main ways to access movies. The next generation it seems will be getting their movies from movie downloads, avoiding any trips to the store. You will find just about any movie you want with a good movie download site. Below is a small sample.
From Nashville with Music: Some excellent country and western music, although one would be better served to purchase one of the actors’ albums rather than agonizing through this tale of a New York couple who go to the Grand Ole Opry by accident. Cast includes Marilyn Maxwell, Leo G. Carroll, Pedro Gonzalez, Marty Robbins, Merle Haggard, and Buck Owens. (87 minutes, 1969)
Ada: Dean Martin stars in this story of political corruption. With determination and commitment, a poor man finds his ways to riches in this politically based drama. Susan Hayward, Dean Martin, and Martin Balsam are the movies stars. (1961 drama Daniel Mann directs)
Blind Date: Tiresome retread of all-too familiar farcical material by Blake Edwards. Yuppie Willis takes Basinger out on a pre arranged blind date, urged that she shouldn’t have alcohol and instantly gives her champagne. This film is hilarious. This was Willis’ featuring debut; guitarist Stanley Jordan makes a lyrical appearance. Cast includes Kim Basinger, Bruce Willis, John Larroquette, William Daniels, and Graham Stark. (93 minutes, 1987)
Bad Santa: Willie Stokes has an interesting gig. Every year he works as Santa Clause on Christmas Eve. When the shops close, Willie and his partner make a big score by breaking into the safe.
Sign of the Times: A punchy Prince film shot in Rotterdam and Minnesota, characteristics thirteen numbers, some overhead photography and lots of bump and grind from both genders. Stolen to some degree by megastar drummer Sheila E. Cast includes Prince, Sheila E., Sheena Easton, Dr. Fink, Mike Weaver, Levi Seacer Jr., Wally Safford, Gregory Allen Brooks, and Boni Boyer. (85 minutes, 1987)
Sleepy Hollow: It is the year 1779, and a young policeman from New York has been sent off to the small town of Sleep Hollow to investigate the disturbing deaths of three men, who were found with their heads chopped off, and the heads all missing. There is a legend of an axe carrying, headless horseman that roams the woods of Sleepy Hollow. Does he really exist?
For Queen and Country: This is a striking modern day thriller of Life in England. Washington is well cast as a prior paratrooper who battles for existence in an environment of racism, poverty, and corruption, and then loses his British citizenship due to a legal technicality. Cast includes Denzel Washington, Dorian Healey, Amanda Redman, Ocean Chapman, and Bruce Payne. (105 minutes, 1989)
Seizure: Rock’s directorial debut is trendy although incoherent shocker in which novelist Frid, his family and buddies are made to play games of death by a trio of wicked weirdos who may or may not be his bad dreams coming to life. Cast includes Jonathan Frid, Martine Beswick, Christina Pickles, Joe Sirola, Herve Villechaize, Mary Woronov, and Troy Donahue. (93 minutes, 1974)
Hook, Line & Sinker: A ludicrous premise about an allegedly dying man who runs up one hundred thousand dollars in credit card debt. Even Lewis fans can be bored. Cast includes Jerry Lewis, Peter Lawford, Anne Francis, Pedro Gonzalez, Jimmy Miller, and Kathleen Freeman. (91 minutes, 1951)
